Ting Irie is the new restaurant in Downtown Dubai you cannot miss. Full of Jamaican flavors and Caribbean vibes for sure will make you “irie” every time you go.
If you know me in person, you know that I am a big lover of Jamaica. At the end of the day, I spent there almost 6 years of my life. For me, Jamaica is paradise on Earth.. simple as that. A part of me feels Jamaican even over the years.
When I saw the poster with the opening of a Jamaican restaurant in Downtown Dubai, my heart jumped. I have missed so much the place, the people and the food! At least now, I have one thing less to miss!
JAMAICAN FOOD ESSENTIALS
- We fairly eat everything!
- There is a true passion for chicken.
- We like our spices… Jerk and Pepper!
At Ting Irie, you will find delicacies that are not easy to find outside the island such as ackee. With ackee, they prepare ackee with saltfish or with callaloo (something like spinach). This dish that looks like scrambled eggs with vegetables in it, it is absolutely glorious. But mind you, there are no eggs in the preparation. Ackee is a tropical fruit, beautiful and weird. If not properly collected and cleaned it could be poisonous. Don’t worry here they know very well how to prepare it and it is still one of the best Jamaican dishes.
Other dishes you cannot miss are the delicious jerk chicken, the curry goat, the oxtail, the peppered shrimps or the beef and vegetable patties. On the side, get Johnny cakes, rice, and peas or fried plantain.
If you like seafood, they have big platters to share and also juicy lobster. Everything tasted like back in the island… just a little less spicy… but you can always add extra if you want to.
THE JAMAICAN DRINKS
We love natural juices and here they have real coconuts and pina colada. Actually, Ting is not only “thing”, it is also a brand of grapefruit beverage (similar to Sprite) and it is very Jamaican. More Jamaican than that you can only get the local beer “Red Stripe” and the many Rums- including Appleton. Jamaica was land of pirates and of course, Rum was a must. Ting has alcohol license, so yey!
THE JAMAICAN MUSIC
Famous all over the world. It is amazing how a likkle island in the middle of the Caribbean has produced so many big figures when it comes to music (and sports!).
Ting Irie has a DJ and he plays reggae, dancehall, and also international hits. Get ready to hear the best of Beeni Man, Tarrus Riley, Sean Paul, Queen Ifrica, Morgan Heritage, Shaggy, Shabba Rank and of course… the biggest, greatest of them all, the legendary Bob Marley.
AT TING IRIE
On Tuesdays, they have a cute name for their Ladies night “3 Little birds” that offers 3 free drinks for the ladies and 30% discount on food and they do have Friday brunches for 395 Dhs.
