Zareena Yousif is a renowned designer in the Middle East. Mostly, thanks to her unique vision of women’s fashion and her understanding of her customers’ needs. She is back in every Fashion Forward season for a reason and not only because it’s home for her.
She has received several awards. For example, as Designer of the Year from L’Officiel Middle East Magazine, Best Designer from the Emarat El Youm newspaper and Sayidaty Lifestyle Magazine.
ABOUT ZAREENA
Passionate about fabrics and textures she made her first collection in the 80s. From designing Jalabiyas, she adapted her designs to a more international market. And she did it without leaving her roots behind and keeping always faithful to her style.
It would be in 1994 when she opened Fasateen, her fashion house in Dubai. Later on, in the early 2000s, she started the haute couture brand.
Zareena also launched a ready-to-wear label called ‘Zaroon by Zareen’. It was presented in Fashion Forward SS16 and it was very positively received by the public. With influences from the 50s and 60s, she designed a prêt-à-porter collection full of color and vintage shapes. Something very different from what we usually see.
The proposal we saw in Fashion Forward SS18 is more similar to what she did in previous collections. If the past years she presented dresses in light colors, this time she opted for using earth tones like mink, brownish and black.
All these colors combined with embroidery in golden tones, making the models look like dark nymphs coming from the forest. Simple and vaporous designs which definitely have her footprint. We saw tunics and column dresses with asymmetries. Matched with capes with shapes that reminded the ancient Greece with a modern twist.
Always trying to enhance women’s beauty, while focused in evening wear, she keeps creating feminine pieces for a modern woman with a taste for the classic.
