We have some serious Apple fans within the DFN team. The opening of this new Apple store at the Dubai Mall was long awaited and it didn´t disappoint. The new flagship store has direct views over the Burj Khalifa, the fountains, and the Souk Al Bahar and will display the latest innovations of the technology brand.
THE NEW APPLE STORE AT THE DUBAI MALL
April 27th, 2017 was the official opening of the new Apple Store at the Dubai Mall. The retail space designed by famous architects Foster+ Partners has mechanized oversized mashrabiyas to cover the windows. These “solar wings” will move depending on the external weather conditions to maximize the comfort of the inside- controlling temperature and light.
This massive store, which is the third for Apple in the UAE, received a royal welcome. Yep! His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and loyal Apple fan, paid a visit and did a full tour of the store with the company representatives. But he was not alone!. On the opening day, the shop received the visit of thousands of customers and tourists. You can see quite a lot of videos and pictures on social media of our royal Crown Prince sharing smiles and even selfies at the store. We are very lucky to have such approachable and down-to-Earth leaders.
The new Apple store boasts a 186-foot curved glass façade and two floors. The second level holds a space to host seminars and programs with capacity for up to 75 people. Apple is organizing quite a lot of activities and workshops. That is why they have a calendar with all the events that are coming soon. You can check it out in this link. The outside of the shop alone deserves a visit already. It has a beautiful terrace with the geometrical patterns of mashrabiyas and the amazing views over the Burj Khalifa, the Souk Al Bahar and the dancing fountains. A must-go!
