From the 23-25 of May 2019, The Greentech Festival united people from around the world for a celebration of sustainability.
The event was envisioned by former Formula 1 world champion Nico Rosberg and entrepreneurs Marco Voigt and Sven Krüger.
Taking place in Berlin with over 50,000 attendees, it was the first festival of its kind and the largest exhibition of green technologies to date.
Over the course of the event, four modules took place; the GREENTECH EXHIBITION, the GREEN LEADERS CONFERENCE, the GREEN AWARDS as well as the GREEN VIBES concert.
GREEN TECHNOLOGY
The Greentech exhibition introduced the latest innovate green technologies from 60 exhibitors. Special highlights include the Volocopter, a fully electric Multicopter, the Ehang drone taxi and more. The exhibitors included their vision for a sustainable lifestyle in their presentations.
Google also made an appearance to present the new sustainability software “Your Plan. Your Planet”. Veloform presented the world’s smallest hotel to visitors, and Insnack gave the guests a little treat of insect ice cream.
60 well-established individuals took part in the Green Leaders Conference. Prominent thought leaders, pioneers and leading business representative address the pressing environmental issues during breakout sessions and panel discussions.
Special guests such as Prof. Dr. Johan Rockström, the world’s leading climate researcher, EU Transport Commissioner Violeta Bulc, National Geographic Explorer Asher Jay, H.R.H and Crown Prince Haakon of Norway were notable speakers.
THE GREEN AWARDS
The Green Awards, a merger of the GreenTec awards and the British Green Awards was an exciting element of the festival. Projects from seven nations and three continents were presented along with 15 finalists. The categories for the awards were: ‘Start-up’, ‘Innovation’, ‘Game Changer’, ‘Rising Star’ and ‘Special Prize Norway’.
The evening of the gala also welcomed 1,000 distinguished individuals. Guests from politics, business and society walked the green carpet.
On another exciting note, as part of the Telekom Street Gigs, the British indie pop band ‘Bastille’ gave an exclusive concert on the festival grounds on May 23rd.
Overall, In support of its slogan ‘celebrate the change’ the Greentech Festival created a positive environment for individuals to come together to learn more about sustainability and a positive future.
