Every fashion week brings along a good number of trends and ideas that we all want to incorporate into our wardrobe if the budget allows. We have prepared a special report on the coolest trending trends at New York Fashion Week catwalks. Some are more consolidated, some are totally new. In any case, be ready to see many of them for Summer and Spring 2019.
TRENDING TRENDS AT NEW YORK
LIFE IN PLASTIC IS FANTASTIC
While we are all about recycling, we saw a lot of plastic on the runways. From shiny bright to transparent or color block or the 90´s “impossible-to-get-in-to” rubber dresses and pencil skirts. Yep! This season we are seeing a lot of technical textiles. Check it out.
RUCHING AND FRINGING GALORE
Volume got a new ally: Ruching. And together with fringes, they are bringing movement back to the scene. It looks cool and comfy! Oh! And Disco! And Cowboy!… Well, fashion takes inspiration from everywhere.
CRAZY NECKLINES
Crazy because you have two main trends here. On one hand, totally asymmetrical necklines with a playful second, third and even fourth strap. On the other, square necklines… like coming out of portraits centuries ago. Fun, Fun, Fun…
The necklines are now being adorned with rhinestones, pearls, flowers and all sort of embellishments. Even the basic white strap tees suspiciously appearing in many catwalks are getting a revamp with this.
DARK DENIM
Well, denim is never gone for too long but in this case, it is the tone defining the trend: the very dark, navy-almost-black blue kind of color. We saw it in Tom Ford, Mugler, Max Mara, Alexander McQueen, APC or Calvin Klein.
DANCE THE POLKA DOT
Of course, we saw florals. It is springtime we are talking about here! But our eyes got hooked in the powerful polka dots, especially the black and white ones.
DISCO FEELING
Cuts, patterns, and even feathers were crying disco nights with Travolta and all.
FEATHERS AROUND
Saint Laurent, Adam Selman, Moschino, Maison Margiela or Proenza Schouler used feathers in their proposals. It is just so glam!
THE WHITE SUITS
Tom Ford, Acne Studios, Awake… some more disco, some more suited, some really loose… All nice and playful!
SHOW YOUR UNDERWEAR
Well, that is what they did at the catwalks. We don’t recommend you expose your underwear no matter what. But it looks cute on the models, right?
PUFFED SHOULDERS
This trend is coming back, and we saw it in some of the designer’s proposals like Christian Siriano, Brock Collection, DelPozo, Stella McCartney, Lanvin or Mara Hoffman.
COLORS- ALMOST SKITTLES
We saw some trends when it comes to colors. For example, we saw a lot of the so-called millennial pink, mixed with passion red -and we love this combo! We also saw a lot of lavenders- cute, girly, soft, feminine.
On the other side, there were very multi-colored options, with a happy vibe, but sometimes too intense if you ask me.
