It’s time to say goodbye to the burning days and welcome our warm and lovely winter in Dubai. Have some plans with friends and family? Air conditioners are switched off, blankets are pulled on, parks and beaches are filled with happy faces. But, let´s not forget our skin these days. Same as summer, winter also requires us to follow some skincare tips. Check the ones we have put together for you.
Must do skincare tips for winter
Exfoliate regularly
Have you noticed your skin becoming dry and dull during winters? This might happen due to the lack of exfoliation. How often you exfoliate your skin? Two to three times a week for normal skin and once a week for sensitive skin. This is very important. Exfoliation should be part of your skincare routine. Exfoliating results in the removal of dead skin cells and reduced skin dryness. Therefore, your skin looks healthy and fresh throughout the day. You may find plenty of exfoliation creams in the market. But we invite you to try out some home remedies like sugar, lemon juice, papaya, yogurt, honey, etc. on your skin which brings amazing results and they are natural.
Please don´t buy the ones that have microplastics or “pearls”. Those are super pollutant. It is much better to use sugar or very fine sand and rub very gently your skin.
Feed your skin with moisturizer
As climate changes, we feel cold and dry during the day. We must use moisturizer cream no matter the season. It is the basis of our routine. We recommend you go for a thicker moisturizer cream that helps in reducing the skin dryness and minor appearance of your wrinkles in cold weather.
Before stepping into the market to look for moisturizing creams have a look at your kitchen. There you may find products like olive oil, coconut oil, milk and cream, ghee, honey… all are useful for your skincare routine. Trying these home remedies is not only good for your skin, it saves your pocket as well, and it also helps the environment too.
Stay hydrated all day long
Drink 8 glasses of water a day is what we hear since our childhood. Do we follow them regularly? Many of us including myself fail to drink water as suggested. But, we should really follow that advice. Water is the most important part of life. We are 60-70% of water ourselves. So, mo matter what climate you are in. Drinking more water helps to keep your body hydrated, fresh and healthy. Cold weather outside doesn’t make us thirsty. So, just push yourself and fill your tummy with water.
Avoid hot showers
It is cold weather outside and we all tend to go for a hot shower. But, I came to know through research that having hot showers during winters will make your skin even drier and damage your skin surface. Lukewarm water shower is the best during winters. Soon after the shower pat dry yourself and apply moisturizer for good smooth skin.
Continue using sunscreen
Even if it’s cold outside we are exposed to the sunlight. So always use sunscreen that helps you to protect your skin from UV radiations and cancer disease. Make the sunscreen your daily skincare routine. There are some that have color and are the perfect foundation.
Use lips and eye creams
Winter seasons makes your lips and eye areas dry as usual. Add the usage of lip balms and eye creams to your skincare routine. Try Vaseline petroleum jelly on your lips that will moisturize them well. Apart from this use home remedies like aloe vera gel, coconut oil, honey, green tea, cucumber and so on for fresh and healthy lips.
No more sugar
Winters have many occasions like Christmas, New Year and so on where you can’t skip the sugar. Eating more sugary items can damage your skin very badly and result in breakouts and redness. So, when possible try to limit the sugar intake.
