As avid travelers and lovers of luxury, we know too well the Anantara brand and high standards of service and quality. This time we will not be enjoying their rooms but their spa. Get ready relax at the Anantara Spa at the Palm Jumeirah!
The Anantara hotel in Dubai is located at the Eastern crescent of the Palm. The entrance has already striking views over the Burj Al Arab and the famous Dubai skyline. So, take my advice and before entering the hotel take some deep breath-in, breath-out and thank for the beautiful sea and the beautiful views. Being aware and thankful always helps me to enter a better and more relaxed state of mind. Of course, you can also take pictures!
THE SITUATION
As new parents, the baby has taken over all our attention, energy, and sleep. Valentine Day was a great excuse to focus again on us. And by us, I meant what was left of us! ????Our bodies were tired, our minds still overwhelmed with the many changes… What I was craving for, was a good massage! (That, and a trip to the Maldives!).
In my case, pregnancy´s aches and pains, and a difficult delivery supposed an extra toll to my body, especially to my back. This couples massage was our self-present. Because we are worth it!
ANANTARA HOTELS & RESORTS
The architecture, the relaxed ambiance, the efficiency, and quality of their services and facilities make it one of my favorite hotel chains. In UAE, we have been already at the hotels in Sir Baniyas and in Qsar Al Sarab. Both impressive, beautiful and with a magical touch… maybe it is because they are in extraordinary locations, blending with the landscape and facilitating amazing experiences. THE ANANTARA SPA
To reach the spa within the hotel, you might need some guidance as it is not indicated too clearly. It is very close by, so just ask the Reception or someone at Guest Relations. Once you reach the Anantara spa´s reception, all is a bliss. They recommend you go 20-30 minutes before your treatment to use the sauna, steam room, and other facilities. On arrival, they offer you a fresh flannel and a cold drink. It is time to let go.
The menu of the spa is really good, so have a look and check what might be more convenient for you. We decided for one-hour signature massage, but next time I would love to do the Turkish Bath.
After that, they take you to the changing room and offer a set of undies, slippers, and a very comfortable and soft bathrobe. Once ready, our therapists were waiting for us outside to take us to the Orchid Treatment Suite. Alfonso got a male masseur and I got the fantastic Janet, a lady masseuse that knew her trade very well.
The treatment rooms have amazing views over the pool facing the lagoon villas. No worries about being seen. The windows have a reflective layer that doesn’t allow to see the inside unless it is dark outside, and you light up the room.
1,2,3… UNWIND
The massage started with a floral foot ritual, very much like the Thai tradition, they wash your foot with natural products and rose petals. They also give you a soft scrub with some salts and apply peppermint cream to activate the circulation.
After that, you go to the massage bed. From toes to head, back and front, nothing is left untreated. Pressure applied was perfect and the ambiance, so peaceful and quiet. They used Elemis products for our massage, specifically the Japanese Camellia Body Oil Blend. It smells gorgeous and feels velvety and luxurious over the skin.
When the massage finished, they took us to the Relaxation area. There, they have 3 sections: females only, males only and couples. While we were still enjoying the lingering sensation of the massage, they brought us some ginger tea and dates.
VERDICT
The experience was indeed very relaxing and now we feel fantastic. One tip: Use the Entertainer app if you have it. We recommend this spa 100%.
They have a lot of offers and packages. The one I liked most is the Ladies Night at the Spa every Wednesday. What a cool and different way to have a Ladies get-together!
