The Milan Fashion Week opened the dance February 20th with the great event of Moncler to close Monday, February 26th. The collections for Fall Winter 2018-2019 of the most important Italian designers were on the catwalk. In addition to the parades, there were parties and events you just don´t want to miss.
Day by day all the novelties that stylists and designers have in mind for next season have been unveiled. There is a lot of hard work, research and time to produce the beautiful garments taking place during the months previous to the fashion shows.
Anticipation always builts in for Milan Fashion Week. Both professionals and the general public follow intrigued what happens in this hectic fashion week.
From the first outfit to some of the most coveted shows, let’s see what will be cool for the next winter.
GUCCI
Eccentric and absolutely anti-constitutional for many- even against all ethics. The reason? The severed heads the models walk with on stage. Alessandro Michele has brought a real operating room on the catwalk complete with a surgical bed in the middle of the parterre. The madwoman, the peasant, the astronaut, the monster, the nun, the soubrette, the student, the fairy, the witch and the gnome. Maxi skirts, overlays, and lightness. Confusion? Absolutely no, indeed a rebellion against biopolitics, that is, of a capitalist system that is actually censorship.
ALBERTA FERRETTI
We love her and her concept of fashion. Every time from the front row we get excited to see her collections. Maxi cardigans, high-waisted trousers, high but comfortable boots, coats and hats, an urban look but extremely cool. On the runway the supermodel Kaia Gerber- daughter of the super top Cindy Crawford- with Gigi Hadid.
Talking about Clutch or shoulder bag? Whatever the answer, be prepared to take only the bare minimum with you because the bags for the next season are in mini format. With some exceptions though.
STELLA JEAN
Stella Jean brings on stage the perfect mix of Olympic disciplines and futuristic dresses, trousers, shoulder garments with prints and colorful paintings. Unusual colors, details taken from racing uniforms and futurist prints come together in perfect harmony with the outfits. STUNNING!
DOLCE & GABBANA
Elegance lightness and cyborg. In fact, drones inaugurated the show. Yep! A hymn to the “fashion devotion”, designed to present the new season bags: the ‘Devotion’ bag, with a sacred heart, gilded as a buckle.
At the show, we saw sartorial damask patterns, coats embroidered with cherubs, headbands in the shape of a zebra, prom dresses for beginners, shimmering suits, and Marie Antoinette style wigs. There were skirts inspired by sacred vestments and sequins with fringed sequins with pop lettering and branded sneakers.
VERSACE
Donatella Versace pays homage to the great Gianni giving multicolor spaces and longuette in leather with a rock pinch. Always a tribute to the female body, something that for years has distinguished the Maison with the head of Medusa as a logo. To name a few Gigi Hadid, Raquel Zimmerman, and Anja Rubik were some of the super tops that delighted the audience at the show.
ECO FASHION
The Green Talent signed by Vogue and Yoox showed the invited public the concept of recycling and eco-sustainability. Selected young talents showed that fashion can be something innovative and extremely cohesive with the environment. It was a pleasure to attend the event. It took place at the Palazzo Turati. MadMood in conjunction with the Italian fashion room showed, in three separate time slots, the emerging designers’ collections based on eco-fashion.
FASHION ART
Monday evening I participated as a correspondent for the magazine to a magical event in a beautiful Milan restaurant. At 55, Via Piero della Francesca “Fashion Art and more” took center stage. There, fashion and art became protagonists. The results? Excellent. Organized by two agencies: Sabrina Spinelli’s Wellness for You and Paolo Distaso B&20 event and scouting model agency.
The event was sponsored by the National Chamber of Young Fashion Designers. We saw fashion designers who presented their Spring/ Summer 2018 collections such as Vivi L’Arte Atelier, Pcube Black by Alex Alberti, Demò Art of Design by Enrico Nicodemo, Nadia Bouhaoual, Vanilla Style by Emily de Souza. Great food, exciting shows for a fashion week at the top.
