Yep! You read it well. Add this restaurant in Downtown to your list whenever you are feeling for great meat, particularly lamb. Asador de Aranda is a renowned Spanish restaurant and even though everything we tried was delicious, the roasted suckling lamb leg is simply awesome.
You can enjoy Asadores de Aranda in many cities in Spain (Barcelona, Madrid, Valencia, Seville…). Dubai is the first international venture for them, although very soon Riyadh residents will be able to enjoy their dishes too.
ASADOR DE ARANDA DUBAI EMBRACING TRADITION
They recreated a similar experience to the original Asador having in plain sight the huge wood-fire clay oven where all the magic happens.
The staff is friendly and are happy to share about the dishes and the traditions behind them. That is how we learn that the lamb they use is suckling and comes from a very particular breed called churra that only grows in Castilla. The taste is different from other lambs we tried as it is very tender and delicate. It quite literally melts in your mouth.
The recipe is simple, yet to get the perfect timings and understand how to make it tender yet crispy comes with experience and love to detail. Many of the employees are actually coming from the original restaurants.
As a good traditional Asador (asador means roaster), the meat is the star. But the rest of the dishes -including some vegetarian- were very nice. They have, for example, Arroz caldoso, a similar yet different dish to the international paella. This rice with seafood made us dream. The salad with zillion types of tomatoes with different tastes and textures was delightful. But well, I can declare I am a total fan of tomatoes.
Croquetas, Aranda bread, and wine were the perfect companions for dinner. We got to speak to Patricia Castoldi, Manager of the Dubai restaurant and force behind the coming project in Riyadh. ” We want our clients to feel like if they would be in Spain… Enjoying traditional food and the good things life has to offer: a glass of wine, a great conversation, and delicious food.”
Our verdict
A must-try! The food was cooked to perfection, the wine fantastic and the prices are more than reasonable for such an elevated casual dining experience. We will be coming back!
